*A mental health evaluation is not the same as a psychological evaluation. A psychological evaluation includes predictive testing measures such as specific personality testing (MMPI-2, PAI). A mental health evaluation includes a clinical interview, observation, and can also include appraisal measures. Appraisal instruments are defined as measuring tools (short tests) intended to highlight present or previous symptoms/ behaviors/ relationship patterns and are not intended to be used independently for predictive purposes. Although, these appraisal measures can be used in conjunction with other factors considered in the evaluation process to form a clinical opinion for the needs of the court.
